¿CUÁL ES EL ORIGEN DEL CAFÉ?

Today we would like to speak about the legendary origin of our great passion.

It all started around 300 AD in Africa, when Kaldi, a goat herder, noticed that his goats were behaving very strangely when eating berries from bushes. After ingestion, the goats seemed to be more active.

Curiosity got the better of Kaldi and he tried the fruits of this plant. To his surprise, he discovered that by eating them he also renewed his energy.

He told his friends about the existence of fruits that invigorated the body, and this story reached the ears of some monks. They thought that these fruits could make their prayers more energetic. They wanted to take them to their land, but the green fruit could not be transported for weeks without spoiling, so they decided to dry it.

The beans were transported to the Arabian Peninsula, where they were cultivated, but it was in Turkey that they discovered that if they were roasted, ground and boiled in water, they made a dark, invigorating brew.

Venetian merchants brought coffee to Europe, and it was not until the 1700s that coffee reached the Americas.

Around 1800, in France, the first espresso machine was invented, but it was in Italy that the espresso machine and the coffee we know today were perfected.

There are other theories, one of which explains that coffee was discovered by the Oromo people, a tribe from central Ethiopia, but we will tell you about that one another day.

Today we thank Kaldi for allowing us to enjoy this exquisite drink with its captivating aroma and intense flavour.
