Yesterday we had an unexpected but very welcome visit; Mario Mola and Carol Routier came to our Marabans headquarters where we were able to talk about "a little bit of everything" over a cup of coffee.

In addition, the two great athletes were telling us some anecdotes and curiosities about the day to day life of an elite athlete during these months of competitions of the World Triathlon Series.

Mario, tell us a little about the routine of an athlete when he or she is participating in a World Series...

Mario: The international group has been training here in Alcudia for 4 or 5 years, and I'm lucky to be from Mallorca, because there are people from Italy, Australia, etc...

We have the national team, who are the ones we meet up with in the races, and then we train with another group, the international group. Our coach is Canadian and our training partners are: Belgians, French, an Australian and Italian partners. Our coach, for a few years now, has been the coach of the Italian federation and with them, we are normally concentrated 200 days a year.

That's a lot of days away, because you don't train at home, the group moves around wherever we can be together.

We go somewhere and we try to be as close as possible because in the end if you have to do 3-4 training sessions every day, you have to be close. It's the way to keep up the demand of training, to do it alone would be very difficult, because you're at the limit... many times you work harder in training because there are teammates... So, you can do it alone but the fact that you have teammates makes you work harder.

Taking advantage of the fact that they were on the island, they came to see us and brought us a gift.
