For the first time in Mallorca, we had the pleasure of celebrating the I Marabans Coffee & Wine Experience.

The speakers at this extraordinary event, two experts in their category; Gabriel Lucas and Joan Simó, carried out a theoretical-practical exhibition on the similarities between wine and coffee. A comparative tasting between both drinks to perceive, identify and appreciate the characteristic properties of coffee and wine.

Gabriel Lucas, among many recognitions and awards, stands out for being: Champion Ruinart Challenge Spain 2019, Best Balearic Sommelier 2018, 2019, Among the 10 best Sommeliers in Spain 2018, 2019, Approved Sherry and Cava Trainer, Certified Court Master Sommelier and a long etc. of knowledge.

On the other hand, our Experience Manager Joan Simó, thanks to his knowledge and his long career, demonstrates his passion for coffee and transmits it in the courses and Marabans Experiences.

Joan Simó, professional barista by the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) has more than 15 years of experience in the sector, an expert in this discipline and a connoisseur of this constantly developing world. He is a trainer at Marabans Academy, at IES Fray Juniper and at the Escola d'hoteleria de les illes Balears.

The lived experience was based on a comparative tasting between coffee and wine, based on a sensory analysis, in which the properties of specialty coffee and wine were examined through the senses and that allowed perceiving and appreciating the characteristic properties both wine and coffee.

The gustatory, olfactory and visual stimuli obtained from the tasting allowed us to evaluate their properties, compare them, establish preferences between them and a comparative analysis between the two.
